WHICH PLASTIC IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

K&E Plastics has over 50 years working with all varieties of thermosets and thermoplastics. Explore the differences below to learn which plastic is right for your project.

THERMOSETS

K&E expert machinists have worked with thermosets for over 50 years. Thermosets are the perfect option for jobs demanding high heat resistance and electrical insulation. The cross-linking polymers in thermosets form irreversible bonds— eliminating the risk of the product melting if heat is reapplied. Thermosets are perfect for projects demanding the following capabilities:

  • Economical
  • Electrical properties
  • Excellent wear properties
  • Flexible design
  • Heat-resistant
  • Lighter weight ration than metal
  • Superior dimensional stability
  • Rounded thermoset product produced by K&E Plastics
  • Assorted thermoset products produced by K&E Plastics
  • Square thermoset product produced by K&E Plastics
  • Additional square thermoset product produced by K&E Plastics

THERMOPLASTICS

At K&E, we machine all grades of thermoplastics and high-performance engineered polymers. Our expert machinists have also worked extensively with virgin, glass-filled, or grades with other fillers.

Since thermoplastic pellets soften when heated and liquefy as additional heat is applied, the curing process is completely reversible as no chemical bonding takes place. This allows thermoplastics to be remolded and recycled without negatively affecting the material’s physical properties. During the machining process, our machinists ensure the proper coolants are used per material type.

Thermoplastics provide your project with the following benefits:

  • Chemical resistance
  • Eco-friendly manufacturing options
  • Electrical insulation
  • Elimination of lubrication
  • Faster operation of equipment/ line speeds
  • High strength and rigidity
  • Impact resistance
  • Less power needed to run equipment
  • Longer part life
  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Low dissipation factor
  • Low moisture absorption
  • Reduced wear on mating parts
