CNC Machinist Set-up and Operator

K&E Plastics, Inc. is a family business, second generation, and was established in 1966. K&E is a job shop that machines non-metalic materials from sheet, tube, and rod. We have capabilities to turn, mill and drill, punch, and route.
Job Purpose:
Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) Vertical Machining Center; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records.
Duties:
- Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, materials, specifications, reference planes, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
- Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Sets-up mills by installing and adjusting fixtures, plates, or vises, tools, attachments, and stops; indicating vices; tramming heads.
- Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Quality Control Inspector

Job Purpose:
Maintains quality standards by inspecting incoming materials, in-process production, and finished product; recording quality results; providing work direction to staff.
Duties:
- Accomplishes quality work requirements by organizing, training, and coaching employees about quality.
- Meets work standards by following production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving operational problems; identifying work process improvements.
- Approves incoming materials by auditing adherence to specifications, conduct of visual and measurement tests, and materials rejection.
- Approves in-process production by auditing adherence to specifications, conduct of visual and measurement tests, and communication of required adjustments to production supervisors.
- Approves finished products by auditing adherence to specifications, conduct of visual and measurement tests, return of products for re-work, and confirmation of re-work.
- Documents inspection results by completing reports; auditing re-work and waste reports; inputting data into quality database.
- Keeps measurement equipment operating by enforcing adherence to Q.C. manual operating instructions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
- People Skills, Analyzing Information, Reporting Research Results, Computer Skills, Promoting Process Improvement, Managing Processes, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Supports Innovation, CAD, Quality Engineering
- Candidates must know how to use the following gauges:
Verniers, Calipers, Height gauges, thread gauges, rulers, No-Go gauges for threads and holes - Candidates with optical gauging experience a plus.
